Interim govt to hold memorial meeting on 14 September to honour martyrs of student movement

The interim government has announced a memorial meeting on 14 September in the capital to commemorate the martyrs of the recent student movement.
The decision was finalised at the second meeting of the Adviser's Council Committee on Economic Affairs, held today at the Finance Division conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Finance and Commerce Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting and said, "The memorial event would incur some associated expenses, which would be handled through the Direct Procurement Method (DPM).
"A proposal regarding this expenditure was approved in principle during the meeting," he added.
Dr Salehuddin informed that the maximum budget for the event has been set at Tk5 crore.
The memorial meeting will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital.
He added that the adviser for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is overseeing the preparations for the event, which is expected to include participation of the families of the martyrs and the students who took part in the anti-discriminatory movement.
