Ashulia garment workers to receive an additional Tk225 attendance bonus
The announcement came after a lengthy meeting between multiple stakeholders yesterday (9 September), including representatives from law enforcement, labour leaders, and factory owners in the area
Garment workers in Ashulia will now receive an additional Tk225 as an attendance bonus per month.
The announcement came after a lengthy meeting between multiple stakeholders yesterday (9 September), including representatives from law enforcement, labour leaders, and factory owners in the area.
BGMEA Director Ashikur Rahman confirmed the matter.
"Workers in the Ashulia area will receive an extra Tk225 on top of whatever they currently get," said Rahman.
He explained that the attendance bonus is meant to encourage workers to maintain regular attendance at their workplaces.
Additionally, workers will now receive an extra Tk10 as a tiffin allowance, as per the new decision.
"Factories usually provide varying amounts as tiffin allowances based on the owner's capacity. However, from now on, Ashulia's garment workers will receive an additional Tk10 for this," Rahman added.
Other key decisions from the meeting included keeping factories open today (10 September) and hiring workers based on their skills.
Additionally, labour leaders emphasised increasing the number of male workers in factories.
