Woman gang-raped in moving bus in Ctg, 2 arrested

A woman was gang-raped in a moving bus in Moijjartek area of Chattogram's Karnaphuli upazila.
Police arrested two people involved in the incident from Patiya upazila area yesterday (10 September) after a case had been filed on Monday (9 September) in the Karnaphuli police station, confirmed Inspector (Investigation) Mehedi Hasan.
The arrested were identified as helper Md Sahedul Islam Mizan,19, and driver Azad Khan Rana, 20.
The investigating officer of the case, Karnaphuli police station Inspector Mehedi Hasan said, "Two accused have been arrested in the rape case and sent to jail through the court."
"Earlier, two accused in the rape case confessed their crime in separate confessional statements under section 164 with the court", he added.
According to the complaint, the victim woman boarded a minibus from Mansa Badamtal area at 9:30pm on 6 September and left for her home in Chattogram city.
The victim was left alone in the bus when the other passengers got off at the Moijjartek junction. Later, when the bus crossed the toll plaza of Shah Amanat Bridge, helper Mizan found her alone and raped her in the moving bus.
Later, when the bus went around the bridge area and crossed the bridge again towards Patiya, the driver also raped the woman. Later the bus went around different places and ran away leaving the victim at Shantirhat bazar.
The victim's husband filed a case under the Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act accusing the helper and driver at the Karnaphuli police station on Monday (9 September).
