The Jahangirnagar University has decided to start classes for its newly admitted undergraduate students of the 2023-24 academic session from 30 September.
"The decision was made at a provost committee meeting today (15 September), presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan," Mohammad Mahiuddin, acting director of the university's Public Relations Office, told The Business Standard.
"A decision also has been made to accommodate the freshers in the newly constructed Bir Protik Taramon Bibi Hall and Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall.
"To ensure residential facilities for the students and oversee the necessary renovation work of the halls, a committee has been formed with the university's chief engineer and hall provosts," he added.
Mohiuddin also mentioned that the students who have completed their masters' degree were requested to leave the halls immediately.
