Two, including nephew of Swechasebak League leader, severely injured in attack by armed men in Sylhet
At least two people, including the nephew of Sylhet Swechasebak League President Aftab Hossain Khan, have been severely injured in an attack by unidentified armed men.
The incident occurred on Sunday (15 September) around 9pm in the West Pir Mohalla area under the jurisdiction of the Airport Police Station in Sylhet.
The injured individuals have been identified as Jacky Khan, 24, nephew of Aftab, and Suhan, 25, both residents of the West Pir Mohalla area, Debangshu Kumar Das, inspector (Investigation) of Airport Police Station, said.
Jacky's condition is critical, and he has been admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
"The family has not yet filed any complaints regarding the incident. The police are investigating the matter, but no arrests have been made so far," said Inspector Debangshu.
According to locals, on Sunday night, several armed men first visited the house of Aftab Hossain Khan in Pir Mohalla, looking for him. But they couldn't find him.
On their way back, they encountered Aftab's nephew, in front of a shop in the Pir Mohalla market.
At that time, a group of 10 to 15 attackers wielding sharp weapons assaulted Jacky and Suhan in front of Gous Uddin Madrasa in West Pir Mohalla, locals said.
The injured were rushed them to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Suhan was released after receiving initial treatment, but Jacky's condition remains serious, and he is still receiving medical care at the hospital.
