Artists from India and Bangladesh team up for ‘Cultural Confluence’ exhibition
'Cultural Confluence: Weaving Artistic Tapestry Across Borders', a joint art exhibition of Bangladesh and India has launched in Srimanta Sankrdeva Kalakshetra Art Gallery, Assam on 15 September. Bangladesh's Galleri Kaya has joined hands with India's Art Konsult in support of the exhibition.
The art exhibition celebrates the shared artistic traditions of India and Bangladesh, showing the strong connections that have shaped the cultures of these two closely linked regions.
It features a variety of artworks, both old and new, to show how the art from these two vibrant cultures has influenced and enriched each other over time. The exhibition includes art work of renowned artists such as Hamiduzzaman Khan, Zainul Abedin, Chandra Shekhar Dey, and more.
"The people of Bangladesh and India have numerous elements in common, from linguistics and visual imagery, flora and fauna, to musical traditions; and even environmental challenges. The two nations explore and uphold this attachment, once again, through this exhibition featuring modern and contemporary artists," commented Goutam Chakraborty, Director of Galleri Kaya.
Mr. Rahul Amin, Assistant High Commissioner Bangladesh to Guwahati was the Chief Guest of the exhibition's inauguration. Moreover, V. Nagdas also attended the inauguration as the Guest of Honour.
"It [the exhibition] invites its viewers to think about the role of art and its potential to promote international understanding, mutual respect, and social cohesion, as well as to note and contemplate how art remains one of the most potent agents of change to this and to any other degree," commented Siddhartha Tagore, Director, Publisher, and Editor at Art Konsult, Art & Deal Magazine
The event will continue till 26 September.
