Dr Yunus may meet with several world leaders, including Pakistan PM, at UN assembly: Foreign adviser
Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain said side-line meetings at the United Nations General Assembly have yet to be finalised, however, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus may attend bilateral meetings with the heads of several countries, including the prime minister of Pakistan.
Speaking at a brief press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Touhid Hossain also mentioned that the United Nations Fact-Finding Mission will soon begin its work in Bangladesh.
The delegation had a courtesy meeting today but refrained from making any detailed comments before moving forward, he said.
He went on to say, "Bangladesh seeks an impartial investigation, and if requested, will provide logistical support to facilitate the mission's work anywhere in the country."
Regarding Sheikh Hasina's stay in India, the adviser said her passport expired after 45 days, but noted that not all situations are subject to strict legal regulations.
He added that the Indian government has granted her asylum, though no official communication has been made regarding her current status.
