A total of 84 individuals have been arrested and 185 firearms recovered during a nationwide joint forces' operation, according to the Police Headquarters on Thursday (19 September).

The confiscated firearms include 11 revolvers, 56 pistols, 11 rifles, 25 shotguns, five pipe guns, 20 shotguns, 13 LG guns, 25 guns, one AK-47, two gas guns, one Chinese rifle, three air guns, two tear gas launchers, four SMGs, four SBBLs, and two three-quarters.
On 25 August, the Home Ministry suspended firearm licenses issued to civilians over the last 15 years under the Awami League government.
A circular issued on 1 September ordered a joint operation comprising the armed forces, BGB, Coast Guard, Police, RAB, and Ansar to recover illegal and looted firearms.
