OCAG officials demonstrate in Kakrail demanding end to salary disparity
A group of officials have taken position in front of the The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (OCAG) in Kakrail demanding the elimination of salary disparity in two grades for the post of auditor.
The protesting officials tried to enter the audit building today (22 September) around 11:30am, but were stopped by police.
Later, they gathered on the road in front of the building, stopping traffic.
As of filing this report at 3:00pm, they were still on the road.
Currently, police, army and RAB members have been deployed at the front gate of the audit building.
Protesters claim there are more than 2,500 officials working in the 11th grade under the Comptroller and Auditor General, most of whom have been denied promotions for a long time.
Despite the court's directive on the matter, the authorities are not implementing it.
On the other hand, 752 people who had filed the petition regarding the promotion were given a salary hike on 11 September.
But the remaining over 2,500 had become victims of salary discrimination despite being in the same grade.
