Not only reforms, election roadmap is also necessary: BNP leader Salahuddin
It is necessary to announce an "Election Roadmap" alongside state reforms, said Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP Standing Committee.
Only then will the people understand that the ongoing reform process in the country is moving towards a democratic approach, said the BNP leader during a press briefing in the conference room of an elite hotel in Cox's Bazar city today (24 September).
He held the press conference after visiting the BNP office in the district affected by vandalism and arson on 4 July.
He said that all political parties want the completion of reform works within a reasonable time. Announcing the election roadmap is necessary so that there is no room for conspiracy to disrupt the democratic process, he added.
Commenting on the victory achieved through the unprecedented bloodbath revolution of the students, the BNP leader said, "Everyone must be aware of internal conspiracies. Order should be restored in the country. The people of the country should again reap the benefits of democracy, regardless of party affiliation."
Stating that he himself was a victim of disappearance at the hands of the Awami fascist government, he said that those who made aynaghor and carried out disappearances, murders, tortures and massacres have no right to take part in politics in this country.
Senior leaders of the district committee including his wife former member of parliament Hasina Ahmed, fisheries affairs secretary of BNP central committee former member of parliament Lutfur Rahman Kajal, district BNP president and former member of parliament Shahjahan Chowdhury and general secretary advocate Shamim Ara Shapna were present.
Earlier, Salahuddin Ahmed visited the BNP office in the district affected by the attack and arson on 4 July. Later he met the journalists in a press conference.
