Novartis donates Tk 5.3 million to Red Crescent for flood rehabilitation efforts
Novartis, a leading multinational pharmaceutical company, has extended its support to aid in the post-flood recovery efforts in Bangladesh. On Tuesday, the company donated Tk 5.3 million to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to assist the people affected by the recent floods in the country's eastern region.
Through this contribution, Novartis aims to support ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts, helping victims rebuild their lives after the devastating floods. Fahmid Wasik Ali, Country President and Managing Director of Novartis, emphasized the importance of collective action during this crisis, stating, "The Bangladeshi people have faced this natural disaster with commendable unity. Now is the time for everyone to step forward and collectively tackle the post-flood situation."
The donation was handed over to Dr Kabir M Ashraf Alam, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, who expressed gratitude for Novartis' timely assistance. The devastating floods, caused by excessive rainfall and upstream water flow in August, affected nearly six million people across 12 districts in the eastern part of the country.
