BRAC Bank screens vision of its non-executive co-workers
BRAC Bank has completed a three-day eye-screening initiative for its non-executive co-workers at its head office, highlighting its commitment to inclusiveness in the workplace.
As part of its flagship CSR initiative, Aporajeyo Ami, the programme revealed that 49% of the screened staff, including chauffeurs, security personnel, office assistants, and cleaning assistants, required corrective eyeglasses. The initiative provided specialist eye consultations and immediate distribution of free eyeglasses, improving their quality of life and productivity.
Held from 21–23 September 2024, the eye-screening programme, in collaboration with VisionSpring, a US-based social enterprise, screened 335 co-workers, with 127 receiving their first pair of glasses. The screening also referred three individuals for further treatment for more severe eye conditions.
BRAC Bank's Managing Director and CEO, Selim RF Hussain, emphasised the bank's commitment to employee well-being: "Our non-executive co-workers are the backbone of our operations, and by addressing their vision needs, we are improving their quality of life and enhancing their confidence and productivity."
In 2024, BRAC Bank aims to expand this initiative, screening the vision of 15,000 factory workers from its corporate clients, having already screened 410 workers at Master Fishing Net Industries Limited, providing free glasses to 296 of them.
The Aporajeyo Ami initiative exemplifies BRAC Bank's dedication to social welfare and building an inclusive society.
