Interim govt to hold election as soon as possible: Dr Yunus tells NHK
The chief adviser said Bangladesh looks forward to support from Japan, its biggest donor, during this very critical period
The Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr Muhammad Yunus, has said the interim government's job is to carry out reforms as soon as possible, and the government will hold an election as soon as it is ready.
"Failure is not something that we can accept," he said in an interview with NHK, Japan's public broadcasting corporation yesterday (29 September).
The interview took place in New York, where he went to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Referring to students who played a major role in overthrowing the Hasina government, Yunus said young people gave their lives during the revolution. He indicated his stance of including the young generation in policy making.

He emphasized that Japan's cooperation is essential in rebuilding his country's economy and helping democracy take root there.
