Depression 'Dana' intensifies into cyclonic storm in Bay of Bengal
The depression is expected to continue its west-northwesterly trajectory, with the potential to intensify into a cyclonic storm in the coming hours
The deep depression over East Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area moved West-Northwestwards and intensified into a Cyclonic Storm "Dana" over the same area, said the latest storm warning centre bulletin today (23 October).
The cyclonic storm was centered at 6am today (23 October) about 695km wesl-southwest of Chattogram port, 620km west-southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 695km south-southeast of Mongla Port and 645km south-southeast of Payra port.
It is likely to move west-northwesterly direction and intensify further.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54km of the Cyclone center is about 62kmph, rising to 88kmph in gusts/squalls.
The sea will remain very rough near the Cyclone centre.
Maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist cautionary signal-2.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice, so that they can take shelter within a short notice.
