Selim’s ‘Pother Pechal’ releases on 7 May
Chorki is set to release a new flash fiction titled 'Pother Pechal' on 7 May, directed by Gias Uddin Selim. The project will debut on Chorki at midnight, drawing audiences into an intimate, slice-of-life story that turns ordinary moments into something quietly profound.
The story reflects on life through the metaphor of roads—unpredictable, shifting, and often transformative. It follows Bayezid, an auto-rickshaw driver, whose routine existence takes an unexpected turn when he meets Uma, a young aspiring novelist determined to publish her first book.
Coming from contrasting social backgrounds, their interaction forms the emotional core of the film, exploring class, connection, and human vulnerability.
The cast features Yash Rohan and Bonne Hasan, alongside a supporting ensemble. While the title may evoke memories of Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali, the director clarifies that the similarity is purely linguistic, with no thematic connection.
Selim describes the work as an attempt to portray relationships beyond social taboos in a simple yet humane manner.
Blending subtle social commentary with personal storytelling, Pother Pechal aims to highlight how unexpected encounters can reshape perspectives and reveal hidden depths within ordinary lives.
