RG KAR rape and murder of doctor: India-wide strike till investigation

Protests are ongoing across India in response to the rape and murder incident at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital. On Friday, August 16th, doctors across the country held demonstrations and strikes. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called for a continued strike on Saturday as well. During this time, all medical services, except emergency care, will remain suspended. Protesters have called for the strike to continue until the investigation into the murder is concluded. The IMA has over 1 million members.
