Govt to discuss reform works with political parties on Saturday
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and other advisers will attend the meeting
The interim government will hold a meeting with major political parties on Saturday (5 October).
The meeting will discuss the government's reform works, chief adviser's press secretary Shafiqul Alam told reporters at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy today (2 October).
"The government will inform the political parties about the work progress of the six reform commissions. The government will also hear recommendations from the parties. Besides, the current situation of law and order will be discussed," he said.
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and other advisers will attend the meeting, he said.
Asked about the duration of the dialogue and whether it would be conducted with all parties on the same day, Shafiqul said the decision to extend the dialogue would be made on the day of the discussion.
Earlier on 19 September, Law, Justice and Parliament Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul said the interim government will not hold any discussion on state reforms with the Awami League, which committed "genocide" during the student-led mass uprising.
He said the government will hold discussions on reforms with political parties other than AL, civil society organisations, professionals' organisations, student organisations, and others.
On 5 September, the interim government decided that the "fascist" Awami League will not get any opportunity to exercise political activities until its trial is completed. The decision was taken at a meeting of the advisory council with Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus in the chair.
