Govt unveils members of five reform commissions
Each commission will have a student representative, whose names are yet to be published
The government has issued a circular unveiling the list of names of the members of five commissions formed to bring reforms in the state structure.
The commissions will provide a report within 90 working days, reports Prothom Alo.
The Election System Reform Commission will be headed by Badiul Alam Majumder, secretary of Sushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan). The other members of the commission are- local government and election expert Dr Tofayel Ahmed, former additional secretary of Election Commission Jesmine Tuli, election expert Md Abdul Alim, politics expert Dr Jahed Ur Rahman, institutional reform expert Mir Nadia Nivin and electronic voting expert Mohammad Sadek Ferdous.
The Police Reform Commission will be headed by former secretary Safar Raj Hossain. Other members of the commission are- Additional Secretary of home ministry Abu Mamtaj Sad Uddin Ahmed, former director general of Narcotics Control Directorate Mohammad Iqbal, former divisional commissioner Mohammad Harun Chowdhury, former additional IGP Sheikh Sajjad Ali and Md Golam Rasul, Professor of Dhaka University's Law department Shahnaz Huda and human rights activist ASM Nasiruddin Elan.
The Judiciary Reform Commission will be headed by former justice of Appellate Division Shah Abu Naim Mominur Rahman. Other members of the commission are- former justice of High Court Division Emdadul Haque, High Court Justice farid Ahmed Shibli, former District and Sessions Judge Syed Aminul Islam abd Majdar Hossain, Senior Lawyer of the Supreme Court Tanim Hossain Shaon and Associate Professor of Dhaka University's Law department Kazi Mahfujul Haque.
The Anti-Corruption Reform Commission will be headed by Iftekharuzzaman, executive director of Transparency International Bangladesh. Other members of the commission are- former comptroller and auditor general Masud Ahmed, Professor of DU's Public Administration department Mobassher Monem, Professor of University of London Moshtaque Khan, Barrister Mahdin Chowdhury, Proffesor of DU's Law department Dr Mahbubur Rahman and Supreme Court Lawyer Farzana Sharmin.
The Public Administration reform Commission will be headed by Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Other members of the commission are- former secretaries Mohammad Tarek and Mohammad Aiyub Mia, Senior Secretary of public administration ministry Md Mokhles Ur Rahman, former additional secretary Md Hafizur Rahman, Rizwan Khayer and former chairman of DU's Public Administration department AKA Firoz Ahmed.
