Let no injustice be done by judiciary: Asif Nazrul
Asif Nazrul pointed out that the interim government evaluated merit, competence and integrity, adding that the appointment of the current chief justice was proof of that.
Law Adviser Asif Nazrul today (21 September) urged everyone to shun the culture of harassing people using the judiciary, asking the government branch to ensure no more injustice comes from it.
Speaking at an event at the Supreme Court for the Chief Justice's address to lower court judges, he said a number of injustices had been committed by the judiciary during the reign of the "fascist government of Sheikh Hasina."
"The judiciary should be established in a way so it's a place where people get justice. Harassing people with cases in absentia is not supported by this interim government. We need to get out of the culture of harassment by giving out cases. Judges should see that citizens are not harassed unnecessarily," he said.

During his address, Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed announced a plan to set up a separate secretariat for the judiciary to ensure an independent judicial system.
"I have asked for the government's help to ensure the independence of the judiciary. This is why a separate secretariat will be established. It will be operated under the Supreme Court," he said.
