Students of South Point School and College achieve success in sports
Apart from education, South Point School and College authorities are also conducting regular training programmes on chess and other sports for students.
Zoena Mehbis, Grade III student of the English Version of South Point School, achieved first place at the Shaheed Sheikh Russell School Chess Tournament-2023 in Girls Division (Class 1-4), reads a press release.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the Sheikh Russell Day 2023 celebration at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka organised by the Sheikh Russell National Youth Council on 18 October and distributed the prizes to the winners of the chess, painting and cultural competitions.
South Point's English medium award recipients are Grade III student Muhtadi Tajwar Nasheed and Grade V student Sidratul Muntaha Nafi.
It is to be noted that the school also won the honour of becoming the champion in two categories and runner-up in one category in the Sheikh Kamal National Youth Chess Competition organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation.
Among them, Warshia Khusbu, a Grade VI student, was awarded the title of "Women Candidate Master" by the World Chess Organisation and has been nominated by the Bangladesh Chess Federation to participate in the World Youth Chess Tournament.
According to Bangladesh Chess Federation, if regular chess training continues like this, the students of South Point School will go far in chess.
