An all-girl band Laisfita is all set to lead the future of women in the pop music industry of Bangladesh.
Despite all the obvious challenges, an all-girl band Laisfita is all set to lead the future of women in the pop music industry of Bangladesh. After swimmingly pulling the popular show Sunsilk Divas off this year, this group of youngsters continues to take their dream ahead.
Antora Rahman, Mustarin Ahmed Sheetal, Shunanda Sharmin and Ferdousi Moumita, the four winners of the season 1 of Bangladesh's first-ever female music reality show formed this band. With a dream to walk through an off-the-beaten track, they opted for a name for their band that would be feminine yet strong hence Laisfita clicked in their head. They also take it as a metaphor of our root culture. The band came up with its debut track 'Swapno Ekhon Amar Haatey' composed by Hridoy Khan. The song received warm appreciation from the audience.
The girls who are in their early twenties, come from very different backgrounds with different tastes in music from each other. One of them is a trained classical singer, one has a knack for folk music and one finds herself engrossed in the lyrics of Rabindra sangeet. The only bridge that connects them is their dream—the dream to inculcate a sense of novelty in the music industry of Bangladesh. Soon after winning the reality show, they started getting international acclamation. They are promised of getting associated with a Bollywood song.
Though Blue Birds and Angels were active in the circuit in 80's and 90's, the industry never focused specifically towards women talent. However, time has changed and the sky is the limit for Laisfita.
