Alfaz to put Saff-winning jersey on auction to battle coronavirus
Alfaz will be putting up his 1999 Saff-winning jersey on auction to battle the pandemic. He had scored the only goal in the final to help Bangladesh being crowned Saff champions.
Many Bangladeshi athletes have come forward in this time of the coronavirus crisis by putting their memorials on auction to help the bereaved people. Cricketers Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Ashraful, shooter Asif Hossain Khan have done it and legendary Bangladesh footballer Alfaz Ahmed has also come forward to battle the pandemic.
Alfaz will be putting up his 1999 Saff-winning jersey on auction to battle the pandemic. He had scored the only goal in the final to help Bangladesh being crowned Saff champions.
The news of Alfaz putting up his jersey on auction was posted on the official Facebook page of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). The status read, "With up to 13 years of playing football professionally, 4 grand achievements and 109 goals, the Ex Bangladesh National Team Captain, Alfaz Ahmed, is notable a brilliant footballer. Alfaz Ahmed will be auctioning his SAAF 1999 jersey, in which he scored the only goal which gave Bangladesh the victory. The money raised will be given to charity as a way to aid the needy during this terrible situation we are all facing."
Till now, only Shakib's bat with which he scored 606 runs in the World Cup has been put up on auction and was sold for Tk 20 lacs. Mushfiq's bat with which he scored the country's first double century and Ashraful's man of the match award against Australia in 2005 is also set to be auctioned. Also, shooter Asif will put up on auction the gold medal he won in the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
