HTC’s Vive Focus Vision is a budget alternative to the Apple Vision Pro
HTC has unveiled the Vive Focus Vision, a new virtual reality (VR) headset that introduces features such as colour passthrough and improved support for PC tethering.
The Focus Vision comes with two high-resolution displays of 2448 x 2448 pixels per eye and offers a 120-degree field of view. It is powered by the Snapdragon XR2 chip. It includes new features such as dual 16MP cameras with colour passthrough, and it can automatically adjust the lenses to suit the distance between your eyes, ensuring a more comfortable experience.
HTC is targeting gamers with this headset, allowing PC gamers to now enjoy the same high-end VR headsets commonly found in virtual reality arcades in the comfort of their own homes.
The Focus Vision also introduces DisplayPort support through USB-C, which HTC claims provides a lossless connection when linked to a PC.
Later this year, an update will enable DisplayPort tethering to increase the display's refresh rate from the standard 90Hz to 120Hz. The headset comes with 128GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 2TB via a microSD slot, and includes 12GB of RAM for enhanced performance.
The Focus Vision features a built-in battery that lasts for 20 minutes, allowing users time to swap out the main battery pack, which offers approximately two hours of usage, claims HTC.
Additionally, HTC has introduced a new fan in the headset, designed to improve cooling by increasing airflow by 30 percent, ensuring better temperature management during extended use.
HTC has also enhanced the metal hook at the back, improved the topside handling, and refined the side arms for greater comfort and durability.
Priced at $999, the Vive Focus Vision is now available for pre-order on HTC's official website.
