What powers has the government granted the military?
The government has granted special executive magistrate powers to the Bangladesh Army across the country, including the capital. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on September 17, commissioned officers of the army have been given these powers under the Criminal Procedure Code. This decision took effect from the date of issuance, i.e., September 17, and will remain in force for the next two months (60 days).
